CORE Finn the Shark Lantern Review: A Fun Light for Kids' Camping

Camping with kids is a magical experience, but it comes with its own set of challenges – especially when the sun goes down. A good lantern can make all the difference, turning a dark tent into a cozy, welcoming space. But not all lanterns are created equal, especially when it comes to engaging young campers. Enter the CORE Finn the Shark Lantern, a playful yet practical lighting solution designed to delight children and give parents peace of mind.

In this review, we'll dive into the features that make the Finn the Shark Lantern stand out, from its whimsical design to its reliable performance. We'll also explore how it fits into a broader camping setup, including some complementary CORE products that can enhance your family's outdoor experience.

Design and Build: A Shark That's More Cute Than Scary

The first thing you'll notice about the CORE Finn the Shark Lantern is its adorable design. Shaped like a friendly shark with big, expressive eyes and a soft, rounded body, it's clearly made to appeal to children. The lantern is lightweight and easy for small hands to carry, yet sturdy enough to withstand the inevitable drops and bumps of a camping trip. The materials feel durable, and the lantern's compact size makes it easy to pack in a backpack or duffel.

The lantern features a simple on/off switch that even young kids can operate independently. It's designed to be safe, with no exposed bulbs or sharp edges. The soft glow emitted by the lantern is gentle on the eyes, creating a calming ambiance inside a tent. This is especially important for kids who might be nervous about sleeping in the dark.

• Lightweight and portable – perfect for little campers
• Durable construction that can handle rough play
• Easy-to-use switch for independent operation

Performance: Bright Enough for Fun, Soft Enough for Sleep

When it comes to functionality, the CORE Finn the Shark Lantern doesn't disappoint. It provides a warm, even light that's bright enough for reading a bedtime story or playing a quiet game of cards, yet soft enough to create a soothing sleep environment. The lantern runs on batteries, which are included, and offers a decent runtime that should cover a weekend camping trip without needing a replacement.

One of the standout features is the lantern's versatility. It can be used as a table lantern or hung from a tent loop thanks to its built-in handle. This makes it easy to position the light exactly where you need it, whether you're setting up camp or tucking the kids in. The lantern also comes in a variety of fun designs, including the Firefly! Sparkle the Unicorn Lantern, which is another popular choice among young campers.

• Warm, even glow that's easy on the eyes
• Battery-powered with a reliable runtime
• Can be placed on a table or hung from a loop

Why Kids Love It: More Than Just a Light

For children, the Finn the Shark Lantern is more than just a source of light – it's a companion. The friendly shark face and soft glow make it a comforting presence in the dark, helping to ease any fears. Many kids will enjoy carrying it around during evening walks or using it as a nightlight in the tent. The lantern's playful design also encourages imaginative play, turning a simple camping trip into an underwater adventure.

Parents will appreciate how the lantern encourages independence and responsibility. Kids can take charge of their own lighting, which gives them a sense of ownership and makes them more excited about the camping experience. It's a small but meaningful way to involve children in the outdoor activities.

Pairing with Other CORE Products for a Complete Camping Experience

While the Finn the Shark Lantern is a fantastic standalone product, it works even better when paired with other CORE equipment designed for family camping. And for those cozy evening moments, the Firefly! Sparkle the Unicorn Wearable Blanket is a hit with kids, offering warmth and fun in one adorable package. These products complement the Finn the Shark Lantern beautifully, creating a cohesive and enjoyable camping setup.
